New Caledonia is a decent destination for Family Holidays with several nice beach resorts with safe swimming and lots of water activities and with few Caledonian people being very accepting towards children. poor value for money compared to its South pacific neighbours and late dining hours are the only drawbacks.
For a straightforward, uncomplicated family holiday, the beach hotels around Anse Vata in Noumea are a good choice. here you'll find some of the better value accommodation in New Caledonia driven by competition as well as lots of independent restaurants for dining out, shopping and a handful of excellent day tours and offshore island cruises to keep you busy.
If you're looking for a sightseeing break with the family, there are a couple of options around the north east coast of Grand Terre with decent swimming beaches.
For a more intimate beach holiday, the Isle of Pines is a 2-hr ferry ride from Noumea or a 20-minute flight making it very accessible. Here you'll find a more laid back atmosphere than Noumea with better snorkelling and some exciting day cruises to uninhabited islands.
