Planning your Family Holiday in Samoa
Samoa is not the first destination that springs to mind when planning a family holiday in the South Pacific islands. But it is a pretty good choice for more adventurous families as well as being the cheapest destination in the South Pacific to visit so offers great value for families on a budget. It doesn't have the large resorts and famous kids clubs the Fijians are renowned for, nor the great restaurants of Rarotonga or the lively beach scenes of Hawaii, but if your're looking for a safe and easy environment in which to explore, then the boutique beach resorts on Upolu Island are a good place to head to with the family.
Family Holidays on Upolu Island
There are only a few hotels on Upolu for families. Adventurous types should check out Sa'Moana Resort on the south coast which has surfing and other watersports, and it's a great spot for exploring long sweeping beaches, villages and the rainforest. Otherwise, for a general family holiday with kids activities the only option is Aggie Grey's on the west coast near the international airport.
Family Holidays on Savaii Island
More adventurous families might consider taking the two hour ferry over to Savaii Island and head up to Manase Beach which has a beautiful stretch of sand and god snorkelling. This is a relaxed travellers resort area located within a village environment and close to the lava fields which make an interesting sightseeing tour.
