Overview
Papeete is the capital town of French Polynesia located a few miles north of the international airport at Fa'a. The town is a bustling cosmopolitan centre with good shops and restaurants, a lively handcraft market and a picturesque harbour where fast passenger ferries depart for neighbouring Moorea Island.
The majority of accommodation in Tahiti is found in and around Papeete and along the sunny west coast.
