The Fiji Islands comprises of 333 islands, a mix of large volcanic islands, small rocky islets and sandy coral cayes. Viti Levu is the largest island with over half of the country's almost 1 million population. The majority live is Suva, the capital on the wet south east corner with the dry sunny western side boasting Nadi International Airport, the mega resort complex of Denarau Island and with easy access offshore to the tourism jewels of the Mamanuca Islands and Yasawa Islands. Most resorts in Fiji are located on a secluded beach front, sometimes on an uninhabited island making them ideal for honeymoons or a romantic break. For those that like to move around, or have the freedom to enjoy independent restaurants, staying on the main island is a better option - at most island resorts there are no restaurants outside of the hotel and no means of exploring on your own.
