Romantic Holidays in the Mamanuca Islands

Just an hour travel time by boat from Nadi Airport across a calm lagoon, or a 10-minute hop by helicopter or sea-plane, the Mamanuca Islands is a very convenient spot for a romantic holiday in Fiji or for getting married on the beach. Although it's just as easy to get to for everyone else making it Fiji's number one holiday spot, people come here for a reason .... it has beautiful beaches, plenty of watersports and beautiful outlooks from your beach front bure. And not all of the resorts are large and aimed at families. There are a handful of small boutique resorts that don't permit children and a few that cater to just a handful of guests ensuring absolute intimacy. Head here if you don't like travelling far and to soak up Fiji's sunniest weather.

Romantic Beach Resorts in the Yasawa Islands

The exquisite Yasawa Islands offer sublime beaches and delightful snorkelling lagoons. These are some of the most scenically beautiful islands in Fiji and there are several outstanding romantic resorts from very exclusive to very affordable. These are perfect islands to unwind on a beach and cool off in the lagoon.

Romance of the Unexplored Outer Islands

Remoteness on holiday often equates with romance and it is certainly true in Fiji that the further you travel the more authentic your experience. Luxury boutique resorts can be found scattered all around the outer islands alongside secluded beaches and usually tucked into isolated bays. Holidays in the outer islands will appeal to more adventurous couples with Taveuni in the north of Fiji having some of the best scuba diving in the South Pacific as well as being a garden paradise with lush tropical forests and an abundance of waterfalls. Similarly, Beqa Island in the Southern islands has great scuba diving, surfing and hiking trails.

Active Honeymoons on the Main Island of Viti Levu

The best beaches on Viti Levu (the main island) start about 30-minutes drive to the south of Nadi and continue along the south coast. This region is known as the Coral Coast and here you'll find about a dozen large resorts, each one in a secluded beach location. The beaches along the Coral Coast vary considerable although none have good snorkelling from the beach front - most resorts organise short boat trips to the outer reefs where snorkelling is much better. Some beaches, like Natadola, have great swimming and good waves for body surfing. Others, like Korotogo, have a lagoon so shallow that you can walk ankle deep to the outer reef at low tide viewing the coral rock pools along the way.

The resorts along the Coral Coast are mostly aimed at families and those who like sightseeing and shopping, although there are a couple of small boutique resorts for couples and some of the larger resorts here have segregated areas for adults. The further east you travel (away from Nadi Airport and towards Suva), the more dense and tropical the countryside becomes and the more intimate the setting. By the time you reach Korolevu (and The Warwick Resort), 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Nadi Airport, the scenery is distinctly tropical with rain forest clad mountains and secluded bays with smaller resorts aimed more at couples than families.
