Solomon Islands Holidays & Hotels Guide

The Solomon Islands are one of the few truly untouched areas of tropical paradise left in the world, with both white sand and black volcanic rock beaches.
There are a number of must-sees and must-dos in the widely diverse Solomons from hiking active and dormant volcanoes, spending time in a traditional village, seeking out one of the 230 varieties of endemic orchids and other tropical flowers to diving WWII wrecks with an amazing array of soft corals. The islands' equatorial climate is extremely humid throughout the year which is perhaps the greatest challenge for explorers.

Solomon Islands Holidays Overview
Solomon Islands is located east of Papua New Guinea and just south of the equator, consisting of nearly one thousand islands. It covers a land mass of 28,400 square kilometres. The capital, Honiara, is located on the island of Guadalcanal.
The four active volcanoes, Savo, Simbo, Tinakula and Kavachi Volcano, are definitely worth a visit. Visitors are able to easily hike up to Savo and Simbo using the streams of hot water that run from the craters. You'll see hot springs, hot mud pools, and lots of steam and sulfur. Tinakula Volcano, located in the easternmost province of the Solomons, the Temotu province, is more active and emits clouds of smoke and steam every day; sometimes, without any warning, it will suddenly erupt for one or two or even more days. Kavachi volcano is a submarine volcano that erupts at least once each year to form small, temporary Islands of lava.
