Adventure Holidays in New Caledonia
Adventure holidays in New Caledonia are geared towards mountaineering, caving, canoeing, horse riding and hiking around mountainous Grand Terre, the largest island in the South Pacific aside from New Zealand. You'll find plenty of mountain trails and remote tribal villages to visit in the north of the island, with some huge tracts of wilderness to the south and east of Noumea. The eco centre of La Foa and Sarramea in central Grand Terre is well set up for eco-tourism with plenty of adventure tour companies based there. Beyond Grand Terre, adventure holidays are limited and rather tame although in the Loyalty Islands, interaction with local villages is very accessible.
