Location
Bora Bora is a lagoon island 270-km north-west of Tahiti (international airport) with one main volcanic island 38 sq-km in size surrounded by a deep lagoon and a fringing reef along which lie two dozen low lying atolls, mostly uninhabited but with resorts.

Highlights
Boutique island resorts with stunning views of the lagoon and the largest collection of over water bungalows in the South Pacific make this a popular honeymoon destination, particularly amongst Japanese. The lagoon offers fantastic snorkelling amongst reef sharks and manta rays, and scuba diving on the outer reef is world class.
Travel Info
Regular daily flights from Tahiti (international airport) take about an hour with connections also from Moorea , Huahine, Raiatea and Maupiti, all in the Society Islands. there's also a fast passenger ferry from Papeete several times a week which taking 7-hours but with sightseeing of other islands along the way.
Accommodation
Bora Bora accommodation falls into two categories: those on the main island, the majority of which are on the south tip around Matira Beach are generally more affordable and offer greater independence on sightseeing; and those on the offshore motu which tend to be more intimate but expensive.
