Rarotonga Accommodation Guide

There are only a dozen or so all inclusive resorts on Rarotonga, with the largest resort having 250 guest rooms. Most of the Rarotonga resorts have beachside or garden rooms in double storey buildings, but a few of the smaller resorts have individual bungalows offering a more intimate atmosphere. Apart form the rooms, a swimming pool, restaurant, tour desk and 24-hr reception are usually provided for guest convenience, with both the Rarotongan Resort / Hotel and The Edgewater Resort also having tennis courts, a kids club and a small boutique shop selling convenience items like sunscreen, postcards, hats and small souvenir gifts.

Home to the international airport and the small seaside town of Avarua, but with a rocky coastline. Come here for shopping, the market, great nightlife and to explore foothills and back-roads.

South Rarotonga

Quiet stretch of coastline with an almost endless beautiful palm fringed beach. The lagoon here has the best snorkelling with boutique resorts aimed mostly at couples. Walk to the waterfall.

West Rarotonga

This is the sunniest side of the island with two of the largest resorts on Rarotonga and plenty of restaurants. The coast is good for beachcombing but the lagoon is poor for watersports.

Muri Beach

Muri is the most picturesque spot on Rarotonga with a long curved beach, sandy bottom lagoon and four offshore islets to explore. Great for watersports, lively ambience and dining out.
