Independent review for Edgewater Resort in Rarotonga Cook Islands

The Edgewater Resort Rarotonga Cook Islands is the largest resort in the Cook Islands with 250 guestrooms and suites. The resort is set amongst 6 acres of tropical gardens, swaying palms and bordered by a white sand beach and sparkling blue lagoon. Located on the west side of Rarotonga, Edgewater offers plenty of amenities, activities and 24-hr service with amazing sunsets across the lagoon.

Room Information

Studio Units are fitted with air conditioning, a Queen size bed and a single bed, dining suite, refrigerator and light cooking facilities with kitchenette along with satellite television and an in-house movie channel, ceiling fan and private bathroom
The 69 Garden Rooms are similar in appearance but slightly smaller in size to the Garden Superior Rooms and are located nearer the main resort facilities with less privacy. All rooms offer queen size bed, single bed and optional roll-away bed with TV and balcony.
The 78 Garden Superior Rooms are similar in appearance to the Garden and Beach Front rooms but are slightly larger in living space are are located in the quieter garden areas of the resort. All rooms offer queen size bed, single bed and optional roll-away bed with TV and balcony.
The 26 Lagoon View Rooms are located over three floors along the beachfront. All rooms offer queen size bed, single bed and optional roll-away bed with TV and balcony.
The 24 Beach Front Deluxe Suites are spread out over a three story complex with great views of the beach and lagoon. These suites are spacious and feature en-suite bathroom complete with romantic spa bath, and separate shower. Each room is air-conditioned and offers a double bed, TV, phone, ceiling fan, iron/ironing board, refrigerator, 2 seater lounger and chairs and a private balcony or patio
The spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom family houses are ideal for those travelling with children or friends travelling together.  Each villa has a full kitchen, with modern appliances, breakfast bar, fridge/freezer, 4 Burner stove with oven, dining suite, laundry facilities, BBQ, air conditioned living area and outdoor furniture. The master bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe, en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet and fitted with a king size bed. Each villa can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people

Hotel Amenities

Edgewater Resort sits alongside a long and deep stretch of sandy beach backed by coconut palms. The area directly in front of the main resort area has reasonable part sand / part rocky lagoon for swimming and it's deep enough for kayaking. Further out there are patches of coral reef for snorkelling. The fringing reef is about 300 metres from the shoreline which is quite some distance and the lagoon empties at low tide. This makes for great reef walking amongst the tidal rock pools.

There are two restaurants on the resort premises and two weekly cultural shows after dinner.

The Edgewater offers a daily activities program with cultural insights and other fun activities plus a great kids club to keep them busy all day long plus babysitting facilities (at cost) to look after at night. There are two tennis courts for guest use plus complimentary equipment and a fully serviced tour desk to book excursions and car hire.

A full wedding coordinator service is available for guest weddings usually held on the beachfront with amazing sunsets across the lagoon and a large restaurant area for group receptions.
